Goritex Commerciale srl produces and offers recycled mechanical wool in a wide range of colours divided into two categories according to fibre fineness: Fine and Ordinary.
This is made possible by the collection and sorting of rags (or, as they are called in Prato, “Cenci”) coming from all over the world.
Sorting consists of classifying the wool knits by colour, composition and fineness.
The next stage concerns the removal of the various accessories found on the garments, such as zips, labels and buttons.
The selected rag is sent to wet tearing, where it is defibred and washed in a tank called “Lavaggione”, to obtain the mechanical wool.
This process yields a long, soft fibre that allows for less material loss in the subsequent spinning stage.
This product does not require the addition of chemical components for dyeing, as it is already coloured.
All of this results in considerable savings in water consumption, CO2 emissions and natural resources, in full compliance with the environmental and social criteria of the circular economy; this too is why we are GRS (Global Recycle Standard) certified.
