Founded in 1973, Carbonizzo Usella S.r.l. is a company specialising in the preparation of natural fibres, located in Cantagallo, in the province of Prato. Born as a subcontractor for the textile sector, the company has maintained a fundamental role in the processing of textile fibres through the carbonising process, a method that uses acid to remove plant impurities from wool fibres. Over the years, the company has been able to evolve, adapting to market demands and new technologies, while keeping alive the Prato tradition of recycling and regenerating textile fibres.
The heart of Carbonizzo Usella’s activity is wet tearing, a highly specialised technique that combines the swelling action of water with the treatment of textile fibres. This process, typical of the Prato tradition, is essential for regenerating materials such as carded and combed offcuts, avoiding damage to the fibres and transforming them into regenerated flock ready to be spun again. Wet processing makes it possible to preserve the quality of the fibres, guaranteeing the production of high-quality recycled materials.
Within the company there is also a dry tearing line, so that Carbonizzo Usella can process the fibres in the best way according to their characteristics.
