”Where the fabric ends… it begins again”
Fedi Alessio stems from the ancient tradition of the Prato rag merchants (cenciaioli), active since the 12th century. This figure, central to the history of the textile district, was able to turn waste into resources, contributing to the development of the circular economy ante litteram. The company is founded on artisan know-how handed down from generation to generation: the craft becomes part of the family and cultural identity, keeping a strong connection with the local area.
Today Fedi Alessio carries on this tradition with an eye to the future, championing concrete sustainability and the collective work that has always characterised the Prato supply chain.

In the heart of the Prato textile district, Fedi Alessio transforms what the world calls waste into a new possibility.
It all starts with the collection of mainly pre-consumer textile materials such as spinning waste, garment-making clippings, frasami, fila, defective cones, fabric ends and damaged fabrics. These are materials that never reached the end consumer but that would risk becoming refuse. For Fedi Alessio nothing is to be thrown away and every textile material has a potential to be reawakened.
It is an age-old know-how, refined over generations, that distinguishes the fibres by eye and by hand : wool, cashmere, camel, yak, alpaca, mohair: each material has its own identity and its own future.
The sorting takes place entirely by hand, without automatic machinery, relying on the experience and sensitivity of those who know the craft in depth. As proof of the effectiveness of manual sorting and to protect the client, the final composition of each individual lot is then tested.
Once selected, the materials are directed towards regeneration: the fabrics are prepared to become raw material again, ready for a new life in the production cycle.
It is a closed-loop recycling process that reduces waste, lowers environmental impact and enhances local labour.
Fedi Alessio does not merely recycle: it recovers meaning, safeguards culture and reinterprets the future with memory in its hands. At every stage there is a strong idea: that textiles, even when discarded, continue to have value. And that what is saved is sometimes worth more than what is new.
