Lanificio Balli

Lanificio Balli has its roots in the Prato textile tradition. Its premises are located in the “Fabbricone Storico” on Via Bologna in Prato, an imposing industrial complex built in the 19th century and one of the first full-cycle woollen mills in the area.

The company was officially founded in 1948, when three Prato brothers – Ruggero, Otello and Dionigi Balli – decided to embark on the textile business, starting from a small weaving mill with looms rebuilt after the Second World War.

Over time the company grew, integrating spinning, weaving, finishing and all the production stages into a single internal cycle, called the Balli Cycle: this vertical approach allows complete quality control and greater creative flexibility.

Today Lanificio Balli operates with a vision that combines tradition and future: it offers seasonal collections of wool fabrics for high fashion and apparel, develops innovative finishes and materials, and places strong emphasis on sustainability and supply-chain traceability. A significant part of its production in fact comes from regenerated materials, in full respect of the environment and of the recycling philosophy typical of the Prato district.

At the same time, the company asserts its territorial and cultural identity: the Fabbricone is not only a production facility, but also a place of industrial culture, where tradition, design and sustainability meet to give shape to new expressions of Made in Italy.
