Rifinizione Penny was born in 1960 in Prato, when three friends decided to embark on an entrepreneurial venture in the textile sector. The company name was chosen by chance, when a penny was found in a pocket during a discussion. Over the following decades, the company specialised in the finishing of woollen fabrics, later expanding its activity to materials such as linen and cotton. A significant turning point came with the arrival of the new generation of partners, who introduced technological innovations and promoted the hiring of young talent. In 2020, the company celebrated its 60th anniversary, consolidating its leadership position in the sector. Rifinizione Penny’s vision is deeply rooted in ethical and social sustainability, as demonstrated by its transformation into a Benefit Corporation in 2022. The company aims for a future in which textile excellence is combined with respect for the environment and the community.
Rifinizione Penny offers a wide range of textile processes, starting from fabric preparation with splitting and stitching techniques. Fulling and scouring are essential to make the wool more compact and workable, while washing and drying are carried out with advanced machinery to guarantee quality. Among the more specialised processes, the company offers raising and shearing, particularly suited to pile fabrics. The process concludes with finishing, which includes steaming, pressing and decatising, and with rolling, which prepares the fabric for final delivery. A key aspect is the complete traceability of the processes, implemented since 2016 to ensure transparency and quality control.
